People who have kidney failure, or end-stage renal disease (ESRD), may need dialysis. Injuries and conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes and lupus can damage kidneys, leading to kidney disease. Some people develop kidney problems for no known reason. Kidney failure can be a long-term condition.
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a type of renal replacement therapy used to treat kidney failure by removing waste products and excess fluid from the body. Unlike hemodialysis, which involves filtering blood outside the body using a machine, peritoneal dialysis utilizes the peritoneum, a membrane lining the abdominal cavity.
With in-center hemodialysis (HD), a patient goes to a dialysis center where a staff of nurses and technicians administer the treatment. During this type of treatment, the blood is removed from the body through an access point. The blood is then filtered through an artificial kidney, or dialyzer, and returned back.
ICU dialysis is a treatment method employed in intensive care units to support critically ill patients with acute kidney injury. The procedure replaces the kidneys’ filtration function when they cannot perform the filtration process. During ICU dialysis, the equipment filters the blood, removes waste products, balances electrolytes, and regulates fluid levels.
The removal of toxic waste and excess water from the blood is called Dialysis. It is of two types – Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis. Hemodialysis involves drawing the blood from a vein in the body and passing it through a ‘Dialyser’ which is an Artificial Kidney which cleans the blood, and then sending the blood back to the body through the vein.
An AV (arteriovenous) fistula is a surgically created connection between an artery and a vein, commonly used in medical procedures such as hemodialysis for patients with kidney failure. This vascular access allows for a consistent and efficient flow of blood, enabling the removal and return of blood during dialysis treatments.

Thank you for launching DS Dialysis Center. I am very happy and feeling extremely fortunate, as earlier we had to travel to Kakinada for dialysis. I had been doing it for 6 years and experienced a lot of problems. But for the last 3 months, at your centre, I have not faced any complications at all. Your staff is doing a wonderful job.
At the DS Dialysis Center, I have been receiving excellent service and have found the staff very well-mannered and efficient. I have been undergoing dialysis twice a week over the last two months, and have not faced any complications. Bed sheets, machines, toilets and overall hygiene of the centre are very well-maintained.
